THEN: I graduated in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. For the next 20 years, I worked in the field of information technology writing custom software for clients. A 1991 New Years Eve resolution to find a church lead my wife Caryn and I (two Catholics) to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Naperville, Illinois. Little did we know how that decision would affect our lives. As we met with the senior pastor about membership, I remember feeling this nagging feeling God was nudging my life in a different direction. It took nine years to respond to that nudge, but in the spring of 1999, I took the plunge and entered seminary. I received my Masters of Divinity in June of 2005 from Northern Theological seminary; meeting all the ELCA Candidacy requirements by also taking class at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. For over 8 years I was the Celebration! campus pastor of Our Saviour’s (yes, the same church we visited in 1991).
TODAY: Today I am the lead pastor of Joy! Lutheran Church in Gurnee, Illinois. I value helping people discover where God is leading; uncovering the God idea in their good idea.
